83: Raising the Next Generation of Riders - Kids in the Studio!

The idea for this episode was to talk with our kids and get their perspective on motorcycles.  So we talk with Rico's son Kahlum (12) and Rich's sons Bryce (8), and Cameron (6), which was not very hard to do once we turned on the mics!

General details of the conversation:

  • Bikes they have ridden / owned
    • Razor MX350 electric dirt bike (originally Kahlum's and gifted to Bryce and Cameron)
    • Motovox MBX10 mini bike (originally Kahlum's and gifted to Bryce and Cameron)
    • Kahlum has ridden on Rico's Yamaha R6 and Indian Roadmaster
    • Cameron and Bryce has enjoyed some spins on the KLR650, but no Harley rides as yet
  • Favorite or what they like and don't like about each one
  • Bike's they think they might like to ride when they get older
  • Gear that they wear and how they like wearing it

82: MotoNobodies Meetup and the Wheels Through Time Museum

Rich and Rico grill Jon about his mountain trip with the MotoNobodies. The weekend trip for Jon was about 850 miles.  The group was made up of the following moto vloggers:

The group had a hard time getting all connected with Senas and figured out after the trip that the Sena BackPack that was used to capture audio to GoPro cameras maxes out at 3-4 riders.  Another lesson learned from trip is that the night before, sit down (generally while drinking) and pair the units.  Looks like the sena 30k will be using 2.4 GHz Adaptive Mesh-Networking Technology.  The reviews said it will be easier to pair up units and we'll update if we get a chance to test it.

Check out the Wheels Through Time Museum and Dales Channel for some great video on restoration and all the bikes at the museum

81: Isle of Man and the TT with Benn Gilmour

You may recall from a prior episode where Rico caught a massive Yellow Fin Tuna.  The captain and owner of that boat turned out to be from the Isle of Man, which then set the wheels in motion for this episode.  Big thanks to Benn Gilmour for joining us and sharing what it's like on the Isle of Man and watching the TT.  Please check out Jackpot Sport Fishing and look him up if you are in Costa Rica.

Interesting tidbits from the conversation with Benn

  • Benn's father had an RG500 GP bike and has been involved with TT racers for over 20 years
  • Between a pub in Creg-ny-Baa and Hillberry is Benn's favorite place to watch the TT
  • Listens to the action on Radio TT on Manx radio
  • Follow the action with timing and scoring (web app)
  • Must try food on the Isle of Man:
  • John McGuinness is Benn's racer to watch this year, although Michael Dunlop will be tough to beat
